It’s Crunch Time

The deadline of March 23rd is fast approaching. Time continues to pass as it is wont to do, leaving me with questions such as: “How am I going to get his done in time?” and “Why the hell did I procrastinate so much?!”

That said, I’m never one to turn away from a challenge, and this certainly is a fun one. I feel that part of what makes songwriting and recording so enjoyable is the variety of tasks involved. Everyone gets fed up sometime or other with the unrelenting drudgery of a monotonous task. Recording isn’t like that at all! There are simply so many aspects to work on. That can be both intimidating, and highly liberating. If I’m fed up with writing, I can record. If I’m sick of recording, I can tweak! If I don’t want to tweak, I can write. Something about such a multifaceted job has always had an allure to me, and that varied nature is what is giving me the energy to work for long stretches of time.

I just wanted to take a moment to release the official song list for my album:

  • In The Beginning
  • Single
  • Perfect
  • Love is Blind
  • Freefall
  • The End
  • short story
  • Typing…
  • Anymore
  • Sunflowers
  • After
  • Me

It’s very satisfying to see them all written out like that. I’m pretty sure it was two weeks ago that I had officially started progress recording all of them, one week ago that I created a checklist for final touches, and today I put in some hours at my impromptu studio (see above).

My equipment is very minimal. All I have is the microphone my father got me for Christmas, my laptop, my guitar, and a MIDI piano. Turns out it’s enough!

Since December, I have upgraded my Distrokid plan, so the album should appear on most major platforms immediately!

I’m at the brink. All that’s left is to put in the hours. I’m really happy with how the songs are starting to sound and watching the task list tick down is very satisfying. I hope to see you on the day!

Until then!

Jack
